Biography

eter Weitz is Chief Executive Officer of Route 20 Private Wealth, a national 401(k) advisory and private wealth management firm, and the driving force behind the firm’s financial planning practice. A registered ERISA 3(38), he has extensive experience evaluating defined contribution and defined benefit plans, health savings accounts, individual retirement accounts, and alternative wealth vehicles.

Peter joined the industry almost 25 years ago, after spending 13 years in real estate development in Washington, D.C. Following several years working for a large retail wire house, he became uncomfortable with the inherent conflicts of interest at major brokerage institutions and joined a regional Registered Independent Advisory firm, opening its South Florida office.

In 2017, at the advice of several clients, he started his own practice, capitalizing on his name brand recognition in the wealth management and retirement planning arena. In October of 2023, he launched Route 20 Private Wealth, a national Registered Investment Advisory firm bringing together industry experts in asset management, private equity, and advisory services.

By education, Peter is a dual graduate of George Washington University, holding an undergraduate degree in business and a master’s degree in finance. He has honed his craft throughout his career by focusing on wealth management, estate planning, individual retirement planning, and wealth retention, as well as corporate 401(k) and defined benefit plans — assisting plan sponsors with their investment, fiduciary, employee education, and compliance responsibilities.

He has published several articles and spoken on numerous panels regarding ERISA regulations as they pertain to defined contribution and defined benefit plans, and has been recognized as a top performer nationally in the 401(k) marketplace by several 401(k) plan publications. He has also served as an expert witness on fiduciary responsibility, and is a former host of a nationally syndicated weekly radio program on finance and investments. He is the author of The 401(k) Roadmap, a book written for both plan sponsors and participants that highlights his methodology and discipline in the defined contribution arena.

Peter and his team have developed and maintained a service model that focuses on the client. In fact, Peter is emphatic in his belief that the secret to his success is attributed to, above all, putting client interests first.
